Custom Guitars

Our custom Guitar Shop, Eclectric Instruments, offers everything from a simple re-string on your guitar to complete overhauls. We also offer custom design and construction of electric guitars, and modification of existing guitars. We offer nearly all major brands of guitar parts, bodies and necks and can help to turn your plain old axe into a one-of-a-kind, custom designed and built especially for you.

We offer parts from Sharp Concepts pickguards, Dimarzio pickups, Gibson, Fender, Bigsby, Grover, Schaller, Sperzel, Gotoh and many others.  Custom guitars start at $700 and can go way into the $1000’s (depending on your taste) and take a minimum of 4-5 weeks for completion, depending on parts and finish options.

Below are some examples of what we have done at our custom shop.

The Destroyer

The Destroyer

The ultimate, fully functional guitar – It features a normal guitar with 5 pickups, 4-string electric mandolin and analog theremin. Also features onboard digital effects, chromatic tuner, ¼ scalloped neck, scalloped brass nuts, electric fret markers and pickup activity lights. 1960s automotive paint scheme with chrome accents and matching stand.

1967 Jimi Hendrix Monterey Pop Festival Strat

1967 Jimi Hendrix Monterey Pop Festival Strat

Completed 1967 Monterey Pop Festival Strat replica – Ash body, flame maple neck with abalone inlay. Schaller locking tuners, Mooretone aluminium bridge, Dimarzio pickups and the famous hand-painted floral design.

Organum Insolitus

Organum Insolitus

Designed using elements of steampunk, Organum Insolitus incorporates clockwork gears, hand hammered brass, cloth wire and wood to show an alternate historical glimpse of a 19th century electric guitar. The guitar features a television with Fresnel lens magnifier, onboard phaser and amplifier. Rather than use multiple pickups, the one humbucker can be repositioned with the red faucet handle. The television, guitar, effects and amplifier can all be patched through to each other in any configuration using the patch bay on the front of the guitar. The pickup or television can also be output through a standard 1/4″ cable to an external amplifier.

The Alligator

The Alligator

Copy of a guitar that Jerry Garcia played in 1972, given to him by Graham Nash.

Swamp Ash body, ’57 Strat style neck, Mustang bridge, Dimarzio ’54 Pro (B), Area ’58 (M), Area ’61 (N). Custom Brass pickguard and tailpiece. Nitrocellulose finish with vintage amber stain.

Frankenstrat 2008

Frankenstrat - A copy of the homemade guitar made famous by Eddie Van Halen. This one is a copy of the '1984 Kramer Ad' guitar.

Frankenstrat 2008 Full
Frankenstrat

Frankenstrat – I tried to stay as true to the original picture as possible. The ash body was black/white striped, then beat to hell to simulate a couple years of hard playing. The red was then sprayed, I beat it to hell some more than added about 6 coats of high gloss nitro. From a distance it looks rough, but up close it feels new. The neck is a vintage neck – nicely worn in. All the other parts – tuners, pickup, bridge, wiring etc are brand new with no aging.
